Musings...

Learning how to help people move better with less pain, through bodywork and core movement, is an ongoing process for me. I'm constantly thinking about it. Through this blog I will share what I learn, my revelations and thoughts about massage, movement and the human body.

Breathing with Feet Firmly on the Floor

I've been doing a daily breathing practice. Not always at the same time everyday, but focused breathing when I remember… breathing in through the nose, in to the belly and then into the ribs with focus on my mid thoracic spine, expanding, with a slow breathing out of my mouth, pursed lips, relaxed jaw, steady stream all the way, all the way, all the way out... and then again.
It's not been too difficult to do, especially when I'm relaxed, doing nothing or sitting in the car driving, lying in bed before sleep, on the floor before doing movement.

But today, I feel I had a leap of progress! I remembered to do it while also doing a mad dash dish cleaning! It was much more difficult, but much more important to take breathing to a new level, while doing something else! I noticed my posture as I did the dishes, I noticed my feet! firmly on the floor! I had less tension overall. It felt great!

If you notice you don't breathe well, hold your breath when doing other activities, or just can't get a deep breath in, or if you have neck pain, rib pain (or actually pain anywhere!) and would like to learn how your breathing can impact your well-being, give me a call! 508 397-4184

I've done a lot of different jobs in my life.  I've finally settled on one.  sort of.  The thing about being a massage therapist and working with the human body is that there is so much to learn and so many ways to help people!  so it changes all the time, it's like having a new job every day!  this works for me.  I like change and new.
